Ansan 1-0 Chungju
Smash and Grab as Ansan take their first three points of the season

Mike Brandon @ Wa Stadium 29th March 2015

Ansan made it four points from their first two games, scoring the only goal in a drab encounter at the Wa Stadium.

Chungju started with much more intent and purpose, dominating the opening quarter of an hour. they should have opened the scoring ten minutes in when the excellent Kim Byung-oh swung in a dangerous cross that bamboozled the Ansan back line. Only the quick reactions of Shin Kwang-hoon prevented Chungju taking an early lead.

The early fizz soon dissipated and the first half became a nothing encounter, most notable for the stadium announcer over-enthusiasm causing a corner taker to flinch. The referee brought things to a halt bang on 45 minutes, without a second of stoppage time.

The second half started no better, with Chungju looking the more dangerous with Kim continuing to rampage down the Ansan left flank. A bizarre interlude of music once again seemed to distract the players from the occasion before a goal came out of nothing. A cross from the edge of the 18 yard box was thumped home by an unmarked Seo Dong-hyun leaving keeper Hwang Sung-min in no-mans land.

Suddenly Ansan looked lively, with Ko Kyung-min going close with a volley on 69 minutes. Chungju continued to dominate however, before Ansan looked to have stolen another, when Seo Dong-hyun got behind the defence but struck the post. it wouldn't have counted with the linesman holding aloft the offside flag.

Chungju couldn't break down a generally resolute Ansan defence, and the home side hung on for a valuable three points, going second in the K2, only behind Anyang on goal difference.
