Ansan earned a hard-fought 1-1 tie on Wednesday night. Visiting Daegu FC Really went at the hosts in the first half taking 7 shots in the first half. Despite Daegu having the majority of possession, Ansan still had a few chances on goal and defended stoutly. Bae Seung Jin really stood out in the defense and was able to make a few well-timed tackles and make getting shots off very hard for Daegu’s stable of Brazilian attackers. Bae also had a goal-saving diving header as the keeper was caught out of position. As Ansan struggled to do anything on set pieces on did lead to a very bizarre yellow for Jung Hyuk as he tackled a defensive player while attacking in the Daegu box. It appeared that we would be scoreless at halftime but a last second Daegu corner kick headed in by Heo Jae Won gave Daegu and admittedly deserving 1-0 lead.

The second half seemed like a completely different Ansan team. Attacking full on, putting up 9 shots and 5 of them on frame. Seo Dong Hyeon was pressuring the Daegu backline with his many deep runs. Both teams saw a Yellow card in the second half. Ansan’s Ahn Jae Joon earned his when he was beaten on the right side by Daegu’s speedy forward and instead of opting for the usual professional foul, he put on a saddle and rode him to the ground. Daegu’s #14 earned his in a much more conventional trip as he was being passed.

Finally all of Ansan’s hard work paid off with an 80th minute goal from a corner kick. Seo Dong Hyeon flicked in the ball with his head to tie up the game. Ko Kyung Min put a bicycle kick on frame in the 87th but was Ansan’s last chance from the run of play. Daegu gave up a 90th minute penalty that #4 was unable to put far enough from the keeper, ending the game at 1-1.

Man of the match: Easily #20 Seo Dong Hyeon as he kept attacking for the entire game and earned Ansan’s only goal on the night.

Saturday’s opponents, Goyang Hi, took a 5-0 pounding at home to Sangju Sangmu tonight. We’ll see how that affects them.
